Publication design for an artists manual. For the Archives (user) is a meditation on the nature of archives, taking the form of a 32-page instruction manual “to access archives of all types”, written by Anuja Ghosalkar as part of her research fellowship at the Archives at NCBS, Bangalore, in 2022.
A fictional text meant to be performed inside an archive, the manual uses materials and protocols from the Archives to playfully create maps, prompts and reflections on the experience of wandering through archival spaces. Along with the writing, the book features puzzles and activity pages, and its design incorporates graphics and visual material from The Archives at NCBS. (scans forthcoming)
